Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Yardstick Outfitters, based in the United States ("Yardstick," "we," "us"). By using yardstickoutfitters.com or our services, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. What we do

You save your body measurements and gear preferences once. We compare them with each brand's sizing and look for deals in your size from third-party retailers. We are not a retailer. Products are sold, shipped and supported by the retailer you buy from, under that retailer's terms.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract.
• Give accurate information, including your measurements. Size suggestions are only as good as the measurements you enter.
• Keep your login secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.

3. Size recommendations

Our fit guidance is based on brand charts, retailer information and rider reports. It's our best estimate, not a guarantee. Fit varies by model, production run and body shape. Always check the retailer's chart and return policy.

4. Buying: confirm-first and auto-buy

• Confirm-first (free): we show you a deal and nothing is bought until you approve it.
• Auto-buy (coming soon; not live yet): when it launches, you'll set rules (for example item, size, maximum price). When a deal matches your rules, you authorize us to place the order on your behalf without asking again. Each completed auto-buy will carry a $1 service fee, shown before you turn auto-buy on. Until auto-buy launches, nothing is ever bought for you.
• You're responsible for orders placed within the rules you set. You can change or turn off auto-buy at any time; changes apply to future orders.
• Prices, stock and shipping are set by retailers and can change at any moment. We can't guarantee a deal will still be available.

5. Memberships

Paid memberships are Scout ($39 per year) and Outfitter ($79 per year), plus any applicable tax. Payments are processed by Stripe. Paid memberships have not launched yet: checkout currently runs in Stripe test mode and no real charges are made. The terms below apply once paid memberships launch.

Automatic renewal terms:

• Your membership renews automatically every 12 months and is charged to your card on file: $39 for Scout or $79 for Outfitter, plus tax, until you cancel.
• Once paid memberships launch, we'll email you a reminder 15 to 45 days before each annual renewal, with the renewal date, the amount and how to cancel.
• If the price changes, we'll email you at least 7 and no more than 30 days before the new price takes effect, with how to cancel, so you have time to decide.
• Cancel anytime online from your account page, in just a few clicks, or by emailing [email protected]. Canceling stops future renewals, and your access continues to the end of the period you've paid for.
• If a free trial or promotional price is ever offered, we'll tell you how long it lasts and the regular price it renews at before you sign up.

6. Affiliate links

7. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the service: no scraping, reselling access, interfering with the site, using it for anything unlawful, or using someone else's payment method without permission.

8. Content

Site content, including guides and the newsletter, belongs to Yardstick Outfitters or its sources. You may share links and short quotes with credit.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose. Protective gear safety depends on the product and its use; we don't certify any product's protection rating.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for retailer actions such as shipping delays, defects or refused returns. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

11. Ending service

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. We'll post the new date above and notify members by email of material changes.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts for the California county where the owner resides, or in small claims court if it qualifies. This doesn't take away any consumer protection rights your own state's law gives you.

14. Waitlist referral program

When you join the waitlist you get a personal referral link. No purchase or payment is needed to join, refer or earn the reward.

• Reward: when 3 people join the waitlist through your link, you earn your first year (12 months) of a Yardstick membership free, applied when paid memberships launch. If more than one plan is offered, the reward covers the first year of the base plan. We won't charge you for that year, and nothing renews into a paid term unless you choose to keep the membership and agree to pay at that time.
• Who counts: each referral must be a different real person joining with an email address not already on the list. You can't refer yourself, and duplicate, disposable or fake signups don't count. If we add email verification, only verified emails count.
• No cash value: the reward can't be exchanged for cash, transferred or sold, and has no cash value.
• Fair play: don't spam, buy signups, or post your link where it isn't allowed. We may withhold rewards earned through fraud or abuse.
• Changes and ending: we may change or end the program at any time by updating these terms. Rewards you have already earned before a change or end will still be honored.

15. Fit Reports and rewards

Signed-in members can file Fit Reports describing how gear fits them. No purchase or payment is needed to file a report or earn the reward, and you don't have to have bought the item through us.

• Reward: each complete report that we review and approve earns 1 free month of a Yardstick membership, applied when paid memberships launch, up to 6 months per calendar year. If more than one plan is offered, months apply to the base plan. Reward months never renew into a paid term unless you choose to keep the membership and agree to pay at that time.
• What counts as complete: brand, model and size, where you got it, whether you kept, exchanged or returned it, your height and the key measurements for that item, and ratings for the main fit areas. A quick yes/no or a mostly empty report doesn't qualify.
• Review: we may verify, edit for length or clarity, reject or remove any report, for example if it's duplicate, copied, inaccurate, abusive, promotional or about gear you don't own or haven't tried on. Only approved reports count toward rewards or appear in our public counts.
• Fit Scout badge: we may give a "Fit Scout" badge to members whose reports are especially helpful. It's recognition only and has no cash value.
• Honest reports: rewards are never tied to positive or negative opinions. Say what you actually found. We don't publish your name or email with a report, and we show only combined counts unless we ask for and get your permission.
• License: you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the content of your reports to improve sizing and to show combined, anonymous results.
• No cash value: reward months can't be exchanged for cash, transferred or sold. Rewards earned through fraud or abuse may be withheld.
• Changes and ending: we may change or end the program by updating these terms. Reward months you've already earned before a change or end will still be honored.
• Open to US residents 18 and older. Void where prohibited.
